In November 2002, Microsoft and a number of hardware companies launched the Tablet PC. The Tablet PC is a fully functional portable computer that differs from the laptop computer primarily in two important ways: a smaller size that significantly increases mobility and the pen-based input device that allows users to interface naturally and intuitively with the computer just as they would with paper and pencil.
